As a specific type of Internet Data system, Network Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), also called Distributed GIS or Internet GIS, has become so important that almost all fields have adopted the capability of Distributed GIS to solicit contribution, to collect data, to publish information, to convey and communicate knowledge. Distributed GIS has flourished as web-based GIS, independent GIS, wireless GIS, and mobile GIS.
The fast growth and widely use of Distributed GIS have brought a revolution to GIS and to the way people communicating as a new Media (Sue and Goodchild, 2001). It's impact is so deep that almost any information project will include a GIS component, which is rely on Distributed GIS. There is no wonder that almost all company seek GIS professionals will require the knowledge and/or experience of Distributed GIS.
